Re: RAWK NBA Draft - Chit-Chat.
A pretty good team, but the big men don't fully convince me... Mikan was an absolute pioneer, but there's no sugarcoating the fact that he played in an almost noncompetitive era (he retired before Russell entered the league, IIRC), while Thurmond is a 7-footer who I'm not sure has ever played the 4 in his career. The rest of the team is quite great, tho.
Thurmond played the 4 with Wilt and later for the Cavs. He's only been here one season, and yet the old school folks still rave about him. Most likely as he's a local boy after all.
Mikan I've obviously never seen play, but just reading about what all the greats have said about him, especially in the ABA
Loose Balls book were enough to convince me.
Thanks though, gents.
