Title: Parry confirms Benitez the man for Red hotseat
Post by: Rushian on June 1, 2004, 01:47:05 pm
RAWK has received exclusive written confirmation from Liverpool Chief Executive Rick Parry that the club are going to appoint Rafael Benitez as the next Liverpool manager. Accusations have been thrown at Mr Parry of spending too much time lounging on a Caribbean beach sipping pina coladas watching the sun slowly set, thus allowing other clubs to secure players and managers. Instead it seems Rick had the managerial deal all sewn up before he went.

After days of frustrated attempts to speak to Mr Parry by email or telephone we were surprised to receive confirmation of our interest in Rafa in the post this morning. It had obviously been sitting in the Copperas Hill sorting office over the long bank holiday weekend.

Benitez has been coach of Valencia for the last three seasons, winning La Liga titles in 2002 and 2004 and the UEFA Cup this season against our conquerers Marseille. Benitez officially quit as coach at the Mestalla this morning rejecting a 4 year contract extension.

This news will delight many Red followers who have been anxious for managerial news since the departure of Le Boss. El Boss is expected to be officially unveiled on Parry's return. Dismay will of course descend on those still holding out hope for Jose Mourinho, who is due to confirm he has tarted himself off to Chelsea.
