Monday 7th March saw the release by ILC Sport of their 1990s FA Cup Final Classic Collection. Included in this collection is Liverpool's 5th FA Cup win, the 2-0 victory over Sunderland in 1992. Red and White Kop has 5 copies of the DVD to give away.



Reaching our fourth final in seven years, the Reds headed for Wembley eager for Cup success. Finishing the season in sixth, it was our lowest position for 27 years, but in Graeme Souness’ first full season in charge the prospect of the FA Cup heading back to Anfield brought a glimmer of hope to the faithful Kop.

It was a testing first half and the scoreline remained deadlocked as the half-time whistle sounded. However, the second half proved to be a completely different story, and with only two minutes played the break-through came, as Steve McManaman’s cross fell to Michael Thomas who smashed the ball home with clinical aplomb, and partially atoned for that injury time goal for Arsenal in 1989 that denied the Reds of yet another league title and domestic double. The young McManaman dazzled on the wing in the May sunshine and put in a man of the match performance.

One soon became two, and it was the goalscorer who turned provider. Thomas latched onto Saunders’ through ball, rounded the keeper and rolled it into the path of Ian Rush who tucked it past Norman in the Sunderland goal, for his fifth and record breaking FA Cup Final goal.

It was the season that marked the Club’s return to European football for the first time since 1985, and it was business as usual as another piece of silverware headed for the Anfield trophy cabinet.

The 1992 FA Cup Final is released on DVD priced at £5.99 and is now available from the Club Shop and all good retailers and is part of ‘The FA Cup Final Classic Collection’ brought to you by ILC Sport.
